Mouse Design League (Fall 2016 to Present)
Starting in my freshman year, I joined Mouse Design League to work with other high school students to engage with computer science and creative technology to figure out how to solve real-world problems. We are given the opportunity to use STEM and our creativity to further improve the lifestyle of someone with cerebral palsy. We use the human-centered design method to interview and brainstorm a product. Afterwards, we create a prototype for the product and start preparing for it to be presented at conventions such as Emoticon. An example of a product my team and I created was a web app called ‘Adaptsicles’ which is similar to the GPS-navigation app ‘Waze’ to help people with disabilities get around the city.
As we gain experience, we are taught to become mentors in order to supervise and teach incoming members. Mouse Design League has prepared me for college and the future while learning the Human-Centered Design process. Throughout the journey, I have picked up not only technical versatility such as learning to solder, 3D print, and work with Arduinos; but also interpersonal, public speaking, and leadership skills. Through my participation in the empathy workshop, I have learned the difference between empathy and sympathy and have performed activities that made me experience a glimpse of the struggles of disabled people.

CAS Group Project – The Hive (Fall 2018 to Spring 2020)
I am a part of a group with my friends and peers which goes by the name “The Hive”. It produces a morning show which showcases everyday events not only in BSGE but globally to inform the community of current events. We hope to create a welcoming experience for every BSGE student.
Being a part of the CAS group and going to meetings has given me the opportunity to foster great relationships with fellow members. This has been nice by giving us a project to work on not only during school work but also during the COVID-19 pandemic.
