Helping Hands (September 2017 to Present)

As a member, I am involved in many subcommittees that focus on spreading awareness and raising money on behalf of both local and global initiatives. One of such is the Smile Train subcommittees, where the focus is raising awareness and collecting money to fund cleft lip and cleft palate surgeries through the Smile Train foundation.

In addition, Helping Hands has introduced me to further volunteering events such as serving hot food to senior citizens on Thanksgiving at Sunnyside Community Services and Earth Day at Socrates Sculpture Park where volunteers collaborate to fertilize, weed, mulch, and plant the land.

Working with Helping Hands has given me the chance to learn successful fund-raising skills. I have been taught the processes of raising awareness, from simply handing out brochures to designing a campaign. Doing this has shown me the versatility of my passion for technology. Knowing graphics design or website creation makes it

Parent Teacher Conferences (Fall 2016 – Spring 2019)

I have volunteered for various parent teacher conference nights with different teachers. As a volunteer, my duties are to help teachers manage parents while timing each meeting. This allows teachers to have one-on-one conversations with each parent within a short time frame.

Junior/Senior Student Council (Fall 2018 to Present)

The money we raise helps reduce the entire grade’s International Baccalaureate examination fees amongst other dues. With a relatively small student body compared to other high schools, cooperation with as many people in the grade is key. We plan various bake sales, and events to fundraise for our graduating class.
